Self-portrait with Sagittal Brain

The goal of this project was to illustrate the gross anatomy of the brain in relation to the cranial cavity. A sagittal cut of the brain was chosen to reveal structures such as the internal cerebellum, corpus callosum, thalamus, etc.

Draft Sketch

A combination of my own x-ray scan, portrait photo, and anatomy textbooks visual references were used to ensure the correct positioning and structure of the various elements.

Final Rendering

The rendering style emulates a traditional soft pencil sketch on toned tan paper.
